A Little About Me
A little about me. I started shooting way back in one of the most unappealing decades of my life - the 70's. Leisure suits, disco music, and no Internet. Film was king and shooting at 400asa was the norm. No raw or stinking jpegs. Just lots of Tri-X and darkroom chemicals. How I miss the smell of napalm in the darkroom. The journey back then began with a Nikon F2, somewhat ostentatious for a high school kid who aspired to greater things. Shooting for myself, and the high school I attended. Nothing glamorous, but for the majority of us I'm sure you have a similar story. Off to college and and it was there I enrolled in my first and last photography class. I did learn to shoot better street images, and got a glimpse of what it might take to pursue this love. I didn't pursue photography as a vocation back then. For a variety of reasons to boring to go into to. But, fast forward to 2006 when I bought my first digital dslr for a family vacation. No it wasn't a Nikon, not sure what I was thinking then, but it cost less than a Nikon and it whet my desire to get out and shoot again. Thank you Canon for the push, but once you're a Nikon or Canon shooter, you always end up staying with one of these fine companies. So upon returning to the Nikon fold I re-gained my lost love for shooting, and for pursuing the light of the day, and now with the new advanced bodies the night as well. My photography as evolved to focusing on street and landscapes. The landscapes feed my soul for all things natural. It is important to me that we protect our natural surroundings, and I find that my images seem to captivate the people who buy them and for those who just look at them on line.
Street for me is capturing the human condition. Good and bad.. Any image that comes from the street to me always tells a story. If anything my hope for all things street is that it engages us with our fellow man, and makes us a little more sympathetic to the human condition. Any perspective that helps improve our understanding and empathy for all of us to me is a great thing photographers the world over do on a daily basis. As this being my first blog entry for my site, I just wanted to introduce my self and hopefully we'll have a good run together talking about everything we find out there in this world of photography we all so love.
